The Ford F-250 is a revolutionary step forward in the full-size, heavy-duty pickup truck market. The F-250 has set itself apart from the competition by rethinking the entire segment and offering an all-aluminum body on all of its models to reduce the curb weight while maintaining both the expected payload and towing values. The all-aluminum body and pickup box reduces the curb weight by up to 350 lb. and this translates to better fuel efficiency with either the gas or diesel engines.
The F-250 is available with a 4x2 or a 4x4 drivetrain and has three different cab configurations (regular, super and crew). The regular cabs are offered with an 8-foot box, the super and crew cabs are both offered with either a 6.75-foot box or an 8-foot box. Two engine choices include a standard 6.2-liter 385-hp Triton V8 with 430 lb.-ft. of torque or the optional and innovative 6.7-liter turbo 450-hp V8 Powerstroke diesel with an incredible 935 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to a TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift and a Tow/Haul mode. The F-250 is available in six trims and these include the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and the Limited. The F-250 offers standard amenities such as traction control and electronic stability control, a hill launch assist feature, six airbags including side curtains, air conditioning, a rear camera, manual tilt and telescoping steering wheel and trailer sway control. The XLT adds many features including power and heated exterior mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, locking under seat storage compartments, SiriusXM satellite radio, SYNC, cruise control, power door locks with a remote keyfob and power windows. The Lariat adds to the features found on the XLT with LED spot lights on the exterior mirrors, an auto dimming interior rearview mirror, power leather front seats, automatic climate control, a premium B&O Play audio system, SYNC 3, power adjustable pedals, a leather steering wheel and a power rear window with defrost. The King Ranch further adds to the Lariat features by offering illuminated running boards, a two tone paint application, automatic high-beam control, heated and ventilated front seats with memory control for the driver, HD radio, a navigation system, Intelligent Access with a push button start, a power operated tilt and telescoping steering wheel and a remote start system. The Platinum trim also further adds to the Lariat trim by offering power running boards, adaptive speed-sensing steering, Quad LED head lamps and tail lamps, 20-inch aluminum wheels, multi-contour massaging front seats, heated rear seats and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). The Limited trim adds to the content of the Platinum by coming standard with the diesel engine and including a twin panel sunroof, adaptive cruise control, the ultimate trailer tow camera system utilizing a 360 degree camera configuration and a lane departure and front collision warning system. The F-250 towing capabilities are unmatched in the heavy-duty pickup truck segment. Features such as a smart trailer tow connector, a dynamic hitch assist option that utilizes cameras to facilitate hitching up a trailer, a trailer brake controller and a 360 degree trailer tow camera system coupled with outstanding towing numbers allows the F-250 to stand alone in this segment.
For 2019, the F-250 offers new exterior paint choices, the single CD player is no longer available and the Lariat trim and above replaces the Sony audio system with a new B&O Play premium audio system and SYNC Connect smart device remote access as standard equipment.
