Power To Go
The Expedition is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 and a 10-speed automatic transmission that combine with all-wheel drive. The standard engine produces 380-horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, but on Limited models, that power is increased to 400-horsepower and 480 pound-feet. An even more powerful version is available on the Timberline trim and Limited with the Performance Stealth package that increases those numbers to 440-horsepower and 510 pound-feet.
The power also allows for towing, as the Expedition can tow 9,200 pounds and has the optional Pro Trailer Back-Up assist technology to make backing up with a trailer easier.
Another technology, the BlueCruise, is also added to the top-of-the-line versions. It allows the vehicle to drive itself on roads already approved by Ford. The Co-Pilot 360 is also de rigueur, with its range of driving aids that make journeys safer.
As for the new Timberline model, it has a much more rugged look, highlighted by 33-inch off-road tires and increased ride height. It also gets a Track Assist system that gives the SUV a tighter turning radius by braking the inside rear wheel in tight turns at low speeds when the vehicle is in four-wheel drive and on soft surfaces.
Stately yet comfortable, stylish yet powerful, the Ford Expedition is both the adventure vehicle and the family vehicle that will meet all your needs.
