The Ford Ranger is the mid-size truck that made a remarkable comeback in the Ford catalogue two years ago. It's still early to renew a truck that has proven its capabilities and skills; however, 2021 will bring one major novelty: the presence of a Tremor version in the family.
There are also new colours, including Cactus Grey and Velocity Blue, as well as the addition of a limited edition STX option package. But that's where the changes end for this already modern pickup.
Recognized engine
Under the hood of this midsize pickup is still the 2.3-litre turbocharged Ecoboost engine that made the vehicle famous. It provides 270 horsepower but adds an impressive 310 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a Ford 10-speed automatic transmission, the engine offers both fuel economy and power.
It averages 10.9 L/100 km in combined mode while boasting a towing capacity of 3,400 kg (7,500 lbs); this puts it among the leaders in its class.
All versions of the Ranger have this same engine. And there are quite a few versions, since the truck can be offered with a SuperCab or SuperCrew and have a choice of 2 or 4 wheel drive.
Three trim levels, XL, XLT and Lariat, are available in the line, while styling packages modify the vehicle's appearance a bit, including optional 18-inch wheels.
